The mission of Toys For Happiness is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children of York County during the Christmas holiday.
The goal of Toys for Happiness is, through the gift of a new toy, to help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to our community’s less fortunate children.
Toys for Happiness has been a holiday tradition since1986 when WRHI solicited listeners to help provide toys for 45 needy families at the Pilgrim’s Inn in Rock Hill. The last-minute request resulted in over 300 donated toys and launched a campaign that has served the community every year since. For nearly 20 years, the United Way of York County partnered with the Radio stations helping the campaign grow into one of the area’s most important holiday events.
The Toys For Happiness Foundation is a 501c3 charity and is managed by Director Karen Jiran and OTS Special Events Manager, Tyler Cupp. The campaign generates as many as 28,000 toys each year for local community members. During the previous 38 years of the program, over 925,000 toys have been donated to those in need in York County. The Rock Hill School District 3 is a major partner and provides strategic support each year.
Donations serve the needs of the Rock Hill Family Resource Center, Rock Hill School District 3, Salvation Army, PATH in York, Fort Mill’s Paradise Community, the Pilgrim’s Inn, Christians to Feed the Hungry and other local organizations and churches.
Each year these donations serve the needs of the Salvation Army, PATH, York and Rock Hill Family Resource Center, The Pilgrim’s Inn, Christians to Feed the Hungry, and several other local organizations and churches.
Special Thanks to our sponsors who help make Toys For Happiness possible for the children of York County, SC!
